In 2022, Bandit Racing Team connected with 2:12 marathoner and renowned coach, Johnny Crain, looking for help training for spring marathons.

Johnny started writing curated workout plans for our Workout Wednesdays and Speakeasy Sundays. The results were triumphant. Across the board, Bandits stayed healthy, peaked at the perfect time, and scored PRs.

Every spring / fall marathon cycle, we have enlisted Johnny’s help, and the Crain Train has grown into a Bandit staple.

How It Works

Bandits interested in enrolling will sign up for a customized workout plan, based on their goals and target race. Johnny will upload your workouts well in advance of our scheduled Workout Wednesday interval / threshold sessions. Ditto for Speakeasy Sunday long runs.

Because our club sees so much value in this service, we cover the upfront cost of hiring Johnny for the season. The overall cost per runner is typically around $80-$100 per training cycle, and well worth it. Funds are collected by the club, and based on a “pay what you can” model. Translation : if you want to participate, but the Crain Train is not in the budget, we don’t want you to miss out on this experience.
